Do I need a lawyer?

Postby katy » Fri Sep 16, 2005 11:01 am

I have power of attorney to sell my Brothers house. Lawyers here have quoted 1% fee which seems a bit high as there can't be much work on the selling side. What do people think? are there any pitfalls?
How do you know that a bankers draft (cheque) isn't forged? Just trying to save him a bit of money.

Insist that the cheque is passed before signing.

Katy, use a Gestoria, they will do all the paperwork for you at a fraction of the cost of a lawyer. At the end of the day it is the Notary who has the power, a lawyer is not needed as in the UK. It´s up to you but we didn´t use a lawyer.
I used to be indecisive but now I´m not so sure.
