For the last week or so the tiles around one of my flower beds have been covered with some sort of weevil. It's about half an inch long, shield shaped, dark brown with gold spots on the back. They are also on the plants and at the minute don't seem to be doing the plants any harm, but I would like to know what they are and whether they are damaging. I don't think they're vine weevils, as I've had problems with those before, and they didn't have the distinctive spots on the back. The plants in the bed are wisteria, duranta, a rose, a felicia and several liatris.
I've tried googling and found several databases with pictures, but I can't find one which looks identical. Anyone any ideas please?

You could try google images for 'shield bugs' there's loads of pictures on there, which mght be a quicker way to narrow the field a bit
