I know some planting times have been discussed before but Senior Management has been given some bulbs, Anemone,Ranunculus and Freesia in memory of Henry the cat. These to be planted in his favourite places. The question is when, reading it would seem that now is right for the UK but we expect it will be wrong for here.
When would be right ?
Planting Bulbs
Re: Planting Bulbs
Sorry to hear about Henry. No idea when you plant bulbs here though.
Re: Planting Bulbs
Thanks, Senior Management is astonishingly upset considering the history which you know.
I am having difficulty believing that no body knows the answer.

Re: Planting Bulbs
Bulbs are really a challenge here. The best time to plant them is in September/October after the first of the winter rains ... Because they will flower in February/March
The problem with bulbs is that they dry out too much in the very dry summer or get eaten by mice and the like

Re: Planting Bulbs
Seems sensible, thanks.
We have freesias in abundance that return year on year already and the bulbs were free so we will give them a go at the end of summer.

Re: Planting Bulbs
I planted anemones, daffodils freesia in november, daffs have just finished my fressias just coming to a end, and my anemones just coming into flower now.
My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.
