Pruning Almond Trees

Any advice/information about doing this properly, for a healthy tree and abundant crop.

I am no expert but I'd remove all dead and cross branches (Cross branches will rub on each other as the wind blow which can damage the tree quite a lot). Also removing branches near the centre trunk to help air and light reach in and while pruning try to keep the whole "tree shape". Generally I pruned my fruit and other non-fruit trees by this method, it might not appropriate to your almond trees but I guess most tree would benefit from it.

Following on from T.c's Post...........and observing the Almond trees ( as a crop) on the way to the Airport (AP-46) ......"tree shape" is the way to go.

Don't you have a local "Pepi the pruner" in your area to ask advice

Any time between now and February
Remove all dead or diseased wood and cross branches. Aim to get a cup or glass shaped crown by keeping the centre free of branches Cut Long Leaders to 1/3 there length to encourage flowering.
