Have a TV in the study which is not used much. I watch the odd programme in there. Went in to watch Downton Abbey Sunday. The TV has aquired a narrator I think it must be aimed at blind people. Only happens on drama programmes, news and Documentaries are ok. The voiceover says things like "jack leaves the room with a grimace"

The TV box has a Theatre and a scene button, would it be one of these? don't want to mess without knowing. It's a Sony Bravia

I have a Toshiba so this may or may not be relevant but hidden in the sound menu is "Audio description" you need to eradicate that or some similar wording.
I wrote to the BBC to complain before I found it, and I consider myself moderately gizmo literate.

You should be able to turn Audio description 'off' here:

Menu> Set-Up> Digital Set-Up> Audio Set-Up> Audio Description.

If its an older Sony it could be under a different menu, but you need to turn off 'Audio Description'
