Games Machines

Postby Acen » Mon Jun 17, 2013 3:53 pm

Does anyone know apart from the Wii and the Nintendo DS, which games consoles can run pirated games??

They always seem to be getting more and more expensive hence why Im asking.

Many thanks

Do you ever buy anything rather than just steal it?

Software piracy is theft - plain and simple.

They've gone native, it's a Spanish thing, they are all at it.

Staggering figures there, 97.8 per cent of all music consumption in Spain was driven by illegal downloads.

Sorry Sid for offending you, but my Anglo Saxon sense of morality went out of the window when I lost my job and have the burden of negative equality thanks to buying during the boom.

Id love to pay €70 per game but its not going to happen.

BTW my pension has been made worthless due to the nice people at the bank/pension company but they get million pound retirement handshakes.

so actually doing what the spanish does not affect my sleep at night whatsoever.

but thanks again for the moral lecture.

I learnt a long time ago that if you can't afford it then you can't have it (unless you steal it of course).

If the firms involved charged a reasonable price, maybe people wouldn't download illegally.

I think a Ferrari is overpriced. Can I go and steal one?

I assume that some posters here never recorded the BBC top twenty with "Fluff" on their reel-to-reel recorders in the 60s?

Sid. My point is that if CDs, DVDs, games etc were a "reasonable" price, no-one would bother to save a few bob on illegal downloads.

Interesting article here regarding game pricing.

I guess you are right but it is still technically theft.

I suppose it is down to the rights holders to find a way of enforcing it or accept defeat and reduce the price, but frankly the people that download for free now would not change their habits even then - once a thief, always a thief. They would probably claim that it was against their "Uman Rights".

I can't help noticing what a fanstastic response you have had to your request for pirate sites.

Maybe that should tell you something.

So it's OK to steal copyright material if you can't afford it? And anyone who disagrees with that is sanctimonious?

What a strange world we live in.

You have mentioned previously that you watch in Spain British TV, and view the likes of BBC iPlayer & ITV player.

Doesn't that make you a bit of a hypocrite? :shifty:

No actually. I watch BBC and ITV on a perfectly legal Freesat box which also legally receives ITV player without a proxy or VPN.

I have experimented with other IPTV options to better understand what may happen later this year and have made that information available to other members of the forum. Of course it is highly debatable whether IPTV constitutes any form of media piracy.

Personally I will probably install a suitable dish to continue watching Freesat.
