XBMC

Postby Acen » Wed Mar 26, 2014 10:29 am

Im struggling with XBMC, (ie) Im yet to get any uk channels.

Ive done the ad on "fusion" but Im lost as there is no BBC ITV etc.

Ive gone through the You Tube videos but with no joy.

am I correct that i need to put filmon on it???

Still extremely stumped by it all.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

acen

ps I know there is a massive thread going on, but if anyone could reconmend a IPTV android box that does not need subscription and it set up already to work straight out of the box, then I would be extremely grateful.

Hi Acen,
Have a look at this ...........not checked if it works will look later, but it sounds ok from stuff I installed earlier .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-c_zKjic6E

Sounds like you need to put Filmon on to get UK TV channels.

Stick with the program..XBMC grows on you............. 8)

Hi this is the one I followed. But it does not work for me as I dont have the "video" option when working through the fusion ad on list.

Im not sure this video is for expats anyway, i think you need to be in the uk for this.

I had exactly the same problem
Tried some of the others youtube video guides but all the ones I tried didn't work, things like referring to a download link that no longer exists etc.

Download this, then follow the video instructions that Enrique sent but instead of going to fusion, navigate to where you have the downloaded zip file.

It's the direct download link

As far as I'm aware if you put the iplayer type addons into XBMC you will still need a VPN to give yourself an apparent UK IP address. It has no internal magic that gets around th erequirement for a UK ip address. XBMC is just a way of integrating those services, and many others into a much broader scope media manager/player.

Filmon does not require you to have a UK ip address to watch it so no need for VPN.

Why don't you just install the Filmon app straight onto your android box. I would suggest along with 1channel series and 1channel movies.

XBMC is a great media manager but it overkill if you only want to watch UK tv.

Please be aware that many of the youtube videos on XBMC how to are outdated as pointed out by Gerry.
Plus some of the link within the repositories are broken too.

Good selection of Films on Icefilms , again you may need to fire off one or two of the links before getting one that works .

Filmon Program::
I installed the Filmon program on an XP system with 2.5Mbps download link and the guy was very happy.
Watches on the PC monitor.

This is exactly what you need and a number of forum members, including myself, have one.

Hi Acen,
Sounds like you need to ensure that nothing else is accessing your internet link, If you have it running turn off Skype. Once Filmon is running I'd turn off your Anti-Virus program too...at least see if the buffering goes away.

So in a word ....the only thing running should be Filmon.......... 8)

I do not know which Humax box you have, but if you connect it to your router via cable (not WiFi) you should be able to access ITV player without any requirement for VPN software. Do not ask me why this works, I assume it is down to some software in the box. It does not work with BBC iPlayer. I am currently using it on 2 different Foxsat HD PVR boxes.

A simple question (I would have thought) but one that nobody seems capable of giving a simple answer to - have Googled for hours and still not found one: How do you find Sky Sports & BT Sports on XBMC? Can you actually get the live channels, or only P2P streams when there's a live event on? (I can do that easily enough without the ghastly XBMC) I know there are people who will tell me you can buy a pre-configured Android box from a certain UK supplier, and they give the impression that if I want to watch Sky Sports live, right now, for example, it's as easy as tuning in via my Sky box. I'm not convinced (and I'm not about to buy one to find out, esp. as I have a Sky Sports subscription anyway). I'm just curious. If these boxes are pre-programmed with a reliable source for such channels, it must be easy enough to find them and save them as favourites myself. I've gone into Sports Devil & Mashup, and searched around various sources that lead to various streams - but still not found anything - just dead ends. Has anyone here managed to find these channels themselves?

P.S. The nearest I've come is via Mashup>Live Streams>By Country>UK TV - this brings me to a screen with all the Sky Sports Channels (+Eurosport - no BT Sport) but none of the channels will play and I get a message telling me to check the log files.

On the Androidtvsolutions box that I have, you access the Sky streams via a standard Android app, it certainly doesn't involve XBMC.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ro.android

The source of the stream is not clear but it clearly isn't from Sky. The quality isn't good but acceptable depending on your connection speed.

I see, thanks for that. I see support for Chromecast is "coming soon", which would suit me. Unfortunately Mobdro is "incompatible" with all my devices - don't know the reason. Off to Google...meanwhile, still looking for a way to find them via XBMC on the PC...
