sky channels in la cala

Postby elieli1 » Wed Nov 19, 2014 9:49 pm

Hello folk, we don't have internet access and are in grand golf apts in la cala.
What is the best way for us to receive English tv? We don't bother when light nights come back but it does come in useful in the winter months. We don't get anything since the satellite went.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sky channels, or the free "non sky channels"?

If you do not have internet access then:

via satellite:
for the free non sky channel like BBC ITV, a dish of appropriate size (1.8m??) - and a freesat / sky / other satellite receiver
for the sky pay channels, a dish of at least 1m, with a sky box and sky subscription.

for limited free channels like BBC ITV a dish of 1m, a satellite receiver, and patched so youc an hack (read illegal!) into the encrypted signals from Intelsat907.

align a dish to 7 west or 26 east and get the free Arabic channel like MBC and Fox, which show a lot of UK And USA imported channels, in English.

get internet, and go for either a free service (android / xbmc / filmon), or a paid service using a mag250 box
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

if you bring your sky card from the uk box, and pop it into the Spanish sky box, then you should get the majority of sky pay channels, apart from sky sports and sky movies and sky hd channels, which are tied to your "home" box.

Reception of some sky pay channels may still depend on your dish size.

But having a sky subscription will not help with reception of BBC ITV C4 or fives... they are nothing to do with sky, and their reception is simply down to dish size.

I have been using filmon and apple tv to watch uk tv, the connection is poor i cant download a pic or open a lot of web sites, but the ipad has connected all the time to uk tv :) i also have used it in other countries without problem, you dont need apple tv if your happy to watch tv on laptop etc , just be aware of your internet package :(
