Windows 10 update
Windows 10 update
For those of us who are running Windows 10 next Tuesday, Aug 2nd, the anniversary update will be released for Windows 10. This will be a major update for Windows 10.
The update will probably be the same as the preview I, any many others, have been running without any problems in the Insider Programme.
Cheers
Gerry
Corrected the date to be Aug 2nd Must have held down the 2 key for too long.

Hi,
Thanks to gerryh for doing some testing for MS..........
Guess he had a sticky 2 key..........
Wish people would move on and get up to date.......spend most of my time sorting XP and Vista system........so they can limp from one problem to another as MS and others have top supporting.

Re: Windows 10 update
Today I have upgraded "theatre" laptop running Win 10 32 bit to the latest ( Anniversary) edition all went well and all looks OK.
I download the ISO file for the upgrade and run it on my "house" laptop all went OK and running OK.
Tomorrow or so I will run the ISO file on my desktop PC to upgrade that.
Both the upgrades kept my programmes/ settings etc as I had them before the upgrade.
Cheers

Re: Windows 10 update
Your start-up will be slower Gerry if you are UPGRADING. If you do a Clean install from the Iso disk your start up will be much faster. Read the installation notes from Microsoft to retain your licence information
Before you ask, I don't know why ...and neither do Microsoft

Re: Windows 10 update
A big update I believe. So what happened? Most of "us" have automatic updates. Was it squirted down to every Win10 PC at once? Is it sent in batches? How can I tell if I've been done? So many questions. Take me back to XP please.

Re: Windows 10 update
Always good info. from you Enrique but now I'm wondering about "phased batches". Can't be location or date of Win10 installation. Must be some complex algorithm... or a guy in an office flipping a coin.
Re: Windows 10 update
Has not happened for me yet either, my W10 is a purchased copy not an update of 7 or 8. (New desktop without OS).

I can wait, looking at some of the comments not sure if I really want it!
Re: Windows 10 update
There are reported problems with the Anniversary Update so beware! The dreaded BSOD being the worst. Another is some standard drivers are getting corrupted e.g. those for USB devices, especially involving sound devices.

Re: Windows 10 update
Having had any problems here with 3 Anniversary Updates.
Problem is reports of problems get more press coverage than successful updates.
Cheers

I updated my laptop the other day with a clean install and have had no problems what so ever, touch wood.

Re: Windows 10 update
I updated my test W10 machine directly from the MS site with an ISO download which installed perfectly.
I can't see much difference, but I don't use it for any useful purpose anyway. It could be crap, probably is, but I hope I don't find out!

Re: Windows 10 update
Forced the anniversary update to a friends laptop to get it done with. 6 hours downloading, over an hour installing.
My Win7 laptop that I finally managed to get Win10 installed on would not see my rather old printer. I was not going to shell out £40 on another printer and being underwhelmed by Win10 decided to regress. Everything suggested it was straightforward. Just click the button it said. Then when it wouldn't load..... Ended up having to go back to a previous image.

Hi gruff,
10/10 for having a previous Image.
" would not see my rather old printer"..........I'm disappointed you didn't give us a chance to look at sorting it.
Why rush back to previous OS when a few tweaks and you would be good to go.....................
