FILMON
I have just been informed by Filmon that we can no longer download programmes, we can only watch them on the computer but here in the campo we only have 1Meg download speed so expect buffering. We will see what it is like this evening. Is there any other source of downloading programmes?

Re: FILMON
Is it possible to improve your available download speed - maybe another service provider?
4Mb/sec is about comfortable minimum for watching TV via internet.
We live in campo, too, and our wireless interrnet provides a steady 12Mb/sec.

Thanks for your reply. We are on wifi but up a mountain near Antequera and local suppliers are thin on the ground unless you are prepared to pay a premium price. Filmon meant we could record and download at our leisure. Who do you use and how much does it cost

Re: FILMON
Fobos is our ISP, and €35+iva per month, for 12 down and 4 up. I am fairly certain they don't cover your patch.
Not the cheapest, but extremely reliable and responsive service, always updated, with only high quality kit installed.

Re: FILMON
I have very poor internet speed and Filmon was my only way of watching television. I subscribe to 10 hours of recording so it won't be impossible to watch just another inconvenience!
Re: FILMON
Hello XXXXXX
I am very sorry, but unfortunately we have to discontinue our download service. In the future, the only way to watch recordings will be by streaming them from your Recordings section: www.filmon.com/dvr
This is due to contractual requirements with our content vendors.
Apologies for the inconvenience!
Kind regards,
FilmOn.com Support Team

I used to cough to disguise a [email protected] I f@rt to disguise a cough.
Re: FILMON
But you can't download it, just stream it.
Re: FILMON
Recording is different to downloading. You can record and watch but not download it

Hiya All
I've had a number of direct messages on this topic and am very grateful to the three members who took the time to give me advice. I'm looking at all the options. Thank you.
For the moment when streaming programmes from Filmon I start them going and then pause them, it allows my slow internet to build up a head of steam so I can watch without any buffering a little later. Inconvenient but it works.

Re: FILMON
The way I used Filmon was to record and then download to HDD, plug that into TV and watch in reasonable quality at our convenience. That has been stopped, so has my subscription.

Re: FILMON
Download the official Bit torrent from their website and google instructions on how to use it. Works on windows and Android. Be careful though if you have downloading limits.

Re: FILMON
What does that mean, markwilding?
Re: FILMON
Ditto ..... although I didn't subscribe but just used it for free for programmes of up to an hour which was useful. That's a shameLyric wrote:The way I used Filmon was to record and then download to HDD, plug that into TV and watch in reasonable quality at our convenience. Google Bit Torrent and it should give you another way of downloading the TV you want.ajtg1952 wrote:What does that mean, markwilding?

I use Winet Telecom who are based in Esteppa. Good speeds and good prices. Their website coverage map includes the Antequera area. Their web address is http://winetizate.com/Spud wrote:Thanks for your reply. Re: FILMON
Thanks for all the help and replies. I've bitten the bullet and paid more for 5Mb and so far the programmes on Filmon have been fine to watch. Will have to see what it is like on a Sunday evening which seems to be the worst time of the week for downloads.
The only thing now is you have to watch the five minutes or so of the programme before the one you want to watch and of course there are the adverts, I've tried whizzing through the adverts but the whole thing tends to stall. Oh well better than nothing.
Watching UK TV in Spain is getting expensive.

Re: FILMON
Probably the cheapest option is NOWTV Box @ approx £15.00 http://www.nowtv.com/box in conjunction with SmartyDNS £25 per annum with Filmon sideloaded for free (NO ADS)

Re: FILMON
I have just sideloaded Filmon to my NowTV box, fairly straight forward. Works a treat!
