Chrome updated

Postby Wicksey » Sun Sep 18, 2016 12:33 pm

This morning it looks like Chrome has updated and changed a few things, in particular the font in the 'address box' on the top toolbar. The webpages load the same and are still at my usual setting of 125% which makes it easier for me to read, but the address box at the top now has much smaller writing and I cannot see how to adjust that.

Hi, I think the address bar size cannot be adjusted but the font size can, under settings/advanced settings/web content/font size.
As a work around I normally work with 2 different browsers, ie have one as a back up if one is "playing up". Both Opera and Firefox are decent browsers and, in fact, mostly faster and smoother in operation than Chrome but of course it's down to personal preference.

That is web content only so I can adjust the size of the web page and its font, but that doesn't affect the tool bar (or the font of the address bar unfortunately which is why I'm still squinting!).

Under CHROME (top left) Go to "About Chrome" will give you the Version. Mine is below, however, I'm on a Mac but as I said there has been no change for me.

The writing has definitely got smaller and also thinner. I hate all these changes made when you do not know what is happening. Same for Outlook. every day there is something different and I have to say not necessarily better. Lots of silly stuff now on Outlook like cups which which are empty to demonstrate you have nothing in the junk file etc. :?

I am not alone ...... but they say it will be fixed in future updates. Strangely though, my version is still shown as the previous one 53.0.2785.116m

Press CTRL and zero simultaneously should reduce zoom to 100%

Thanks White Horse, I have gone into the settings and now set it as 100% which fits back on the screen again. The writing in the address box part of the top toolbar is now a reasonable size again.

The other trick you can do is to press control and - or control + so that you can either make it larger or smaller as you wish. I often have to do that if I cannot read the writing of something I am reading.

The Ctrl +/- option is really useful as it only works on that site and remembers the setting next time you load that site. I find it useful for reading online newspapers as you can make the page fit the available space which it usually does not if you use the standard settings.

I find it useful when I am reading newspapers too Sid. That is normally when I use that option.
