sky box - getting the most out of sky hd box

I have never been able to use the catch up services on sky hd box or the box sets option.
The download starts and fails after a few seconds.

I can use "sky go" fine on ipad

i have dns settings in my router and also the sky box, any help would be appreciated

You need a vpn on the router to run sky hd catchup. DNS won't work as far as I remember.

I'm using SmartyDNS on my router and have no problems with catchup on my Skybox. Not changed the DNS settings on the Skybox.

So I take it that it has never actually worked, I honestly thought it would only work with a vpn, obviously I'm mistaken, so could it be that your DNS provider doesn't unlock the sky catchup system? Brimsham who do you use?
