I get lots and reguarly go through deleting them individually.

There's some times a box at the bottom you can tick to unsubscribe which I use.

There is also sometimes an " unsubscribe link"

As we are told never to click a link on a suspect email, is it best not to click these.

This is on an iPad

Thanks

Do not click on any unsubscribe link.
Clicking on these links can sometimes download a nasty to your machine and it also tells the spammer that your email address is genuine so they can sell it on to more spammers.

I have clicked on the link to unsubscribe when the email is definitely from a website I know, such as Thorntons which I have used quite a bit in the past.

I use Gmail and it has really excellent spam filters. All my own email addresses forward to Gmail.
Spam messages are then very easy to get rid of with "delete all spam messages now".
I just take a cursory glance down the list to ensure none are genuine. Less than 1% are not spam.

Hotmail is also pretty good at detecting spam.
Yahoo? - well I don't trust them to store any data after everything was stolen from them about a year ago.

That is OK if you know it is from a genuine sender.
You still have to be careful in case someone is spoofing, pretending to be some genuine.
Haven't you received any emails allegedly from Barclays, TSB or other banks?

Oh yes indeed, I get quite a few supposedly from Paypal as well but I know these are phishing ones so don't even open them but mark them as phishing emails. They tend to go into my junk box. I do only click on the links when they are from companies or services that I subscribe to and they address me by name in them too. If I am in any doubt at all I go to the website separately and log into that rather than go through their email.
