PRINTING OFF THE BACK OF A PDF

Postby patricia » Wed Aug 09, 2017 3:09 pm

Perhaps it is me, however I have just been sent a form by the Planning Department of Richmond upon Thames council which is meant to show a section called Certificate B where you put in the other leaseholders name and address. However having printed it off and found that it doesnt include "certificate B". I sent an email to the planning department and they have sent me an email to say that, that part of the form is on the back!

So for all you clever people out there. How do I print off the back of the form when it doesnt show up on the pdf! :wtf:

They sent me the page seperately now Enrique.

However is it possible to print off the back of a pdf! Just wondering. Not heard of that one and others might be interested.

Actually Enrique another question for you. How do I fill it in. I have tried to fill it in as a pdf on line, but although the cursor goes there I cannot type. I am asking here because perhaps it could be helpful to other people!

Is 'the back' just page 2 of a double-sided document?

BTW, I do find Foxit Reader a really friendly (free) package for opening, reading and printing PDFs, including really complex ones. I often need to print out technical manuals, running to several hundred pages, and to choose 1,2,4.... pages per side, etc.

Hi patricia,
I would second Foxit Reader.........

You don't say what reader you're using.............Adobe ?

Adobe Reader is a PDF reader provided free-of-charge and does not allow users to “write” content in PDF files by default.

Some light reading on .pdf Forms...........Adobe

Yes it is is Adope. I will download Foxit then Chris. Thanks for that

Thank you for the "light" reading Enrique :D My brain aches already but I will read it and see how I get on. The instructions for filling in the planning permission forms are bad enough and all the other bits that go with it :problem: :P

From memory, some pdf forms have a purple bar across the top & there is a space to click or tick if you want to fill it in

i seem to remember in filling-in of online forms (pdf I think, with Adobe reader) that some forms are not designed to be filled in on-line and must be printed first and filled in by hand, then sent in either by post (or personally) to the office - or perhaps scanned and emailed as attachment .... it will actually inform you of all of this in the instructions. Otherwise, with Adobe I am sure I have been able to fill in other pdf s where there is no restriction set by the originator. You may have to click on a section at the top of the page to enable/activate access.

No you can fill it in on line and send it. However that was an option for me. They said I could print it off and send it by hand, but it meant filling in with a pen instead of typing it which looks a look nicer. I could have then uploaded it and sent it by email.

However I have downloaded the Foxit and am able to type in the required areas.

But thank you anyway.

Glad Foxit is working for you, Patricia.
It's a clever and friendly package, and allows all sorts of tricks - and free.
IIRC, there's a translation option too.

Advice above is correct:
- some PDFs are 'read only', locked, and no additions or editing possible
- some allow editing/annotation/form filling
- others can allow complete reworking (like an unprotected Word document)
All depends on how the author permissioned it.
