Sticky 'y' & 'u' Helppppppppp techies!!!!

Postby Unicorn » Mon Jan 15, 2018 10:29 pm

Hello

I have an Asus Sonicmaster laptop and the 'y' and 'u' are sticking, sometimes not working at all. I have tried to brush any debris out and turned it upside down and given it a shake.ç

Is there anything else I can do folks??

As ever, thank in advance.....

Hi Enrique

Would it have to be a computer shop. Would, for example, Carrefour have such a thing in their 'computer' dept?
Do you think it is just something stuck underneath?

Cheers mate..............

My number pad has given up the ghost on 7 8 5, dodgy on 2 and 3, and my ñ is sticky sometimes, and single apostrophe/question mark is lost for all time ...... Is it a practical, not to mention easy matter, to buy a new keyboard, for example from Amazon.es, and fit it oneself - uestion mark (by the way the q is sometimes sticky too).
It is an Acer Aspire from 2011, and may be just expiring from old age - question mark.

In my experience it is quite easy, and cheap, to change keyboards on Acer Aspire laptops.
Model 5741Z in my case.

Thanks Gerry - may well go that way.
Enrique - I am not sure I can balance the extra keyboard on my lap with my laptop ... errrmmmm ... I do have one that we got when the last old Dell computer keyboard gave up on all the middle keys! The Dell was a heavier old thing and was always used on a desk, but the Acer moves about a bit and mostly on the knees.
