Hi
I downloaded Irfan view as I needed it to open a .png file. It has defaulted to be the file that opens .jpgs which I don't want ! How do I change it back to Microsoft Picture Manager in W7 ?
Cheers

Re: Changing default picture opening program
It's not just the .png files - I've been able to convert them to .jpg files once they're open - it's all the .jpg files that are now being opened with Irfanview that I want to change ! In 'the old days' (i.e.XP ), I could go to 'File Options' at the top, & get a list of file types & be able to specify what program I wanted to open it with....

Re: Changing default picture opening program
Hi Enrique - I have got the info, and it's very helpful. However, I wasn't able to 'unclick' the file types in Irfanview, and there were so many, I decided the quickest solution was to uninstall Irfanview, which I have now done. I then went thro' all the file types, and changed the relevant ones to Microsoft picture manager, which is what I prefer.
It is a bit time consuming, as you can only do one type at a time, and since Irfanview has gone, there are a lot of file types with 'Unknown application' or 'File Identifier' beside them - is this likely to be a problem ?

Re: Changing default picture opening program
It's pretty easy to choose the default program. Simply right-click on the picture and go to properties. Look for the open with: in the General tab, choose a program and apply the changes. Now whenever you double-click that type of picture, it will automatically open in the program you have chosen.
