Lobster

Postby gerryh » Sun Jan 06, 2019 9:39 am

Just found this mobile phone service:- https://www.lobster.es/
Looks very interesting to us who live in Spain or are frequent visitors who want to phone the UK and several other countries.
A Goggle search has only brought up this article about them :- http://www.gibraltarfinance.com/press-r ... e-in-spain
Any body on here us them?
Cheers
Gerry

They don't require you sign up for a permanent contract, you can pay €12 a month at a time as and when required.

Welcome to the forum.
Glad you like Lobster.
I believe they use Movistar as their carrier so the speed you get depends on the quality of the Movistar signal where you live.
One big advantage of using Lobster, if you only spend short periods in Spain, is that you can park your account and only re start it, and pay a month at a time, when you are here in Spain.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes it connects to network called Lobster but that might just be a wolf in sheep's clothing as I also heard its Movistar.

Delighted with this service and tempted to get for myself (the wife is the only Lobster so far). The only thing is I must keep my number and being a cheerful pessimist I am worried whether the mighty Orange will be happy with Lobster managing the number transfer....

Great. Yes thats what I thought..was just weird that when searched for network name manually it ended up connecting to what it called lobster. But looking at wife's phone now it says network movistar...only academic interest as the speed is phenomenal.

With Lobster you can keep your existing Spanish Mobile number if you want to.
They will do all the necessary transfer from your existing provider to themselves and text you when the change , usually a day or so, has been completed.
I have been told by them that after Brexit free calls to the UK will still be included in their service.

Thanks so much.

Also calls to uk are occasionally useful to me so that's great news.
