Translation of PDF to English
I have been sent an email pdf attachment of a comprehensive quote for a major building project, it comprises 24pages in all with breakdown of costs in some cases there maybe up to 5 paragraphs (with tabs) on each page, the document is in Spanish. The long winded solution is to highlight each paragraph (minus the tabs) copy and paste into google translate.
Do any OPs now of a programme/app available that will translate it into English in one go. I am using an iPad or MacBook Pro.
cheers

Re: Translation of PDF to English
Careful as that site has repeatedly come up as "dangerous" for me on varied browsers so I didn't risk it.

Re: Translation of PDF to English
The URL and the installation file both show as 'clean'. If you download it from some dodgy third party download site like Cnet or Softpedia it is very likely to have junk bundled with it.

You can also do it on a tablet, translate.google.com, but you have to use the load desktop version button to load the standard web version. Then click on tje documents button and navigate to the pdf that you want to translate.

I said the URL comes up as "dangerous" via several browsers with the URL you posted which it did and still does. The browsers which flag it as "harmful" on both a windows PC and Macbook for me are; Firefox, Chrome and Brave.Beachcomber wrote:The URL and the installation file both show as 'clean'. Re: Translation of PDF to English
It is Google Safe Browsing that flags the site not the individual browsers. I would not have posted the URL without checking it first.
I checked it with my own installed antivirus and malware programs, Avast, Malware bytes and Superantispyware as well as online with Virus Total which checked it against 70 antivirus and malware programs all of which show it as 'clean'.
Try it here:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/url

I'm sure you have, however seeing as Google is the most popular search engine by a country mile, with a 92% market share I tend to trust them in matters such as this. They don't flag sites as "dangerous" for no good reason. If the site had no issues and is as you say "clean" you would have thought they would have taken issue with Google and had gotten the warning rescinded by now, I first had the issue back in January when I looked to using the service. But whatever way you look at it the worlds largest search engine flags the site as "dangerous" and thats good enough for me personally.

Re: Translation of PDF to English
'Large' and 'popular' does to necessarily equate to 'trustworthy', quite the contrary, in fact. Strange that out of nearly seventy antivirus and malware checkers it is the only one to flag translatepdf.com (a rival translation web site at that) as dangerous. What is to stop it manipulating its 'safe browsing' results for its own commercial gain as it does other search results?
I put even less trust in Google than I would a Spanish lawyer.
Anyway, exactly the same installation program can also be downloaded from here:
https://www.babylon-software.com/download
so why is that not also flagged?

Re: Translation of PDF to English
And the same can be said of a great many of these "anti virus" companies. Strange that! But as I said its personal preference and I think I'll stick with worlds largest search engine to help in keeping my browsing safe. I can't find any where that the company in your link challenging Google with regard to their flagging them as "dangerous"....find that odd if they are "clean" as you say as it must be crippling their business. Also Safari on Macbook flags up a warning:
https://arstechnica.com/information-tec ... us-is-bad/
To cast aspersions on Spanish Lawyers is frankly laughable. I have had the same Spanish Lawyer for 32 years, I trust him implicitly. Uría Menéndez are one of the most respected Law Firms in the World

Do you mean the Babylon Software link? I cannot find anything that flags that. Not even Google's dubious 'Safe Browsing'.

Re: Translation of PDF to English
OK, thanks for the clarification. As I said, both sites lead to the same installation file so it is odd that one is flagged and the other isn't.
