Hi. I am having problems with my laptop. I can't connect to the internet - for example I get the message "can't establish secure internet connection". However, when I check in Status and WiFi it says that I am connected. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting and turning my laptop off and on again. I have also tried the troubleshooting tool, but it says it cannot identify the problem. I have other devices which are connected to the internet.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Or is it time to buy a new laptop ( it is over 5 years old)? Many thanks

Re: Laptop internet connection
Is it some security software that you are running that gives this message?

Re: Laptop internet connection
Hi Stratocloud,
It would be useful if you Posted full details..........i.e
The OS( Operating System) you're running.
The Laptop Make and Model
Sometimes just deleting all references to your WiFi and then setting it up again on the Laptop ..
Reloading the WiFi Driver is another thing to look at....going on Manufactures Web site and getting latest Driver.
Sometimes MS (Microsoft) will "Update" the Driver , so You may have to get an Older version That came with the Laptop.
If there is a problem with the on-board WiFi hardware a USB WiFi dongle will get round that.
So lots of things to check before even thinking about a new system.............

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

As Enrique says, more info is required.
Do you run SmartyDns perchance?
I have, very occasionally got a similar message that was, in fact, generated by SmartyDns

Re: Laptop internet connection
Thanks everyone. After a lot of fiddling and turning the router on and off several times I have managed to connect to the Internet. However, the laptop is very slow and it gets very hot so I think it might be on the way out!
Re: Laptop internet connection
Assuming you are in Spain, you might of noticed that it is very hot here.
Does the fan work in your Laptop.
A few years ago mine failed in one of my laptops so it got rather warm.
Fairly easy job to replace.
On the other hand the fan and internal might be very dusty, so a good blow out with an air duster will help it stay cool.
Cheers
