New system for foreign plated cars ???

Recently, while reading another forum I came across a post that suggested that from March 2008 it will no longer be necessary to matriculate a non Spanish vehicle. What was said was that the vehicle would only need to be registered with trafico and your local town hall and then you would be able to pay Spanish road tax and have an ITV when ever necessary and actually be legal by a much less complicated routr. Does anyone know if this is true or just wishful thinking ?

This has been brought up before, it would be great if true but I doubt that it is.

This rumour has been going around for years, so I think it is wishful thinking.

It's another Internet myth.

The only way this will ever happen is when there is pan European harmonisation of vehicle registration which isn't even being discussed.

It's going to be another 3 years or more before they can even harmonise driving licences.

Slightly off topic, but the mention of driving licences reminded me that, almost unbelievably, my Spanish photo driving licence was renewed in only four weeks recently!
