Car insurance

Postby Steve&Yvonne » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:43 pm

Anyone got good advice on internet car insurance in English for spanish registered vehicle?

Linea Directa website doesn't work in English yet and call centre were difficult about quoting.

We have loads of No claims Bonus and are old enough to know better so should be low risk but the estimate was in the region of 600/700 euros for fully comp - Is that reasonable? Sounds high to me.

I pay 400 Euros p.a. for fully comp with an excess of 300 Euros on a 1.7L TDI 2006 car. If you want the name of the insurance company and the broker pm me and I will oblige. This will avoid any chance of being accused of advertising.

I use LD and have done for 7 years or so. They provided a policy in English language and when I did have an accident they were very good at sorting out the recovery and repairs. I think originally I got the quote from their English speaking telephone service and they even took account of my no-claims history from UK as I was finishing the UK insurance to start here in Spain.

I have been with Liberty for the 2 years I have been in Spain, and as renewal is due this week decided to get a quote from Linea Directa, They were very helpful on the phone and I have saved over 200 euros. The number I rang was 902 123 309.

Linea Directa will always give you a quote but in order for them to do so you have to tell them the make of car, its age, model etc and give your details........when we were first looking at cars to buy we asked them for several different quotes until we found car and quote we were happy with!! They are normally extremely helpful.

Had an accident once, not my fault and they had repairs authorised within 24 hours.......I could not fault them. They also chased the driver at fault for the excess I´d had to pay.

I called Linea Directa last year, their first quote was about 200 euros higher than the one from my present co. They then got back to me and gave another quote 28 euros less than my co. I decided to stay where I am as they wanted a copy of my other quote faxing etc. so it wasn't worth the hassle just to save a few euros.

I've always been very happy with LD until recently when I had awful problems with their service. They sort out claims quickly enough but trying to get a courtesy car (which I was entitled to) was beyond a joke. I'm now looking for another company.

I insure with Knight insurance Brokers. They speak english, are great and cheap. Their number is 971 677 546
I've just had a claim and they did all the arranging with the Spanish for me and held my hand, knowing my spanish wasn't great, and it all went perfectly.

We used LD for 3 years, then switched to Groupama through a broker Salt's Bay and saved €200 a year. We also claimed after 8 hours of the new policy ( long story ) Everything went fine.
