Hi,

I've done a search and couldn't find an answer so here goes.

When transferring a spanish plated car, does the 4% transfer tax still apply if the car is a gift?

Yes. The tax is on the transfer not necessarily the amount paid. Gift tax is payable on gifts and is likely to be much higher than 4% even if you could apply it to a car which I doubt.
