Motobike shop

Postby casita-bonita » Mon Jul 28, 2008 10:54 am

Given that walking is a bit slow we plan to by a couple of off road bikes to explore the campo. Nothing to powerful as we are both motorbike novices. Just want a couple of machines that will get us around the tracks.

Are there any moto shops in the Competa/Algarobbo-ish area?

There are lots around. There's one just off the motorway heading down to Algarrobo Costa, on the left.

If you pass that one and turn right along the coast road, there's one called Paymar, at Caleta, on the left, before you reach the vet (vet is on the right).

If you carry on a little further, opposite the petrol station at the start of Torre del Mar is another.

There are plenty of others but these come to mind first.

There's a fairly big bike dealer in Velez but I've never found him yet, I think he sells Yamaha. Juan (the one near Torre) is a crafty old sod, had a bad experience with him but that was on a repair job not a purchase.

Any suggestions as to a suitable bike(s) to look at.

Don't want anything too fast, well my wife doesn't.

Easy to ride, I guess some bikes are easier than others.

Engine size, I'm guessing a 125cc but to be honest I'm not sure what the cc is of these bikes the youngsters ride all over the place.

We will generally just be exploring the campo tracks, so not planning rough cross country riding.

You don't sound like expert moto riders, so I assume you have not passed a test? If this is so, you can only ride up to a 125cc here, using your UK car licence (with a Spanish medical, of course).
Look for a 4-stroke single, wide bars - not a baby Harley-look-alike though - with knobbly tyres, rather than a drop-handlebar 2-stoke screamer.

You guess correctly, but we will be taking a few lessons over here.

Had a trials type bike in mind, knobbly tires etc.

So you can ride up to 125 with a UK car driving license. That'll make life easier
