Car Radio Code
A few months ago our Range Rover battery died while we were out and about. It was a catastrophic failure causing the immobilizer to throw a complete wobbly and we had no choice but to replace the battery there and then. In the panic I never thought about the radio. When I next came to use the radio it demanded the security code as it usually does when it has been disconnected. I started to input the code but the dammed thing refused to allow me to enter it and has "Locked out" refusing to do anything at all. Is it possible to 're-boot' it or something so that I can get it to accept the code or is it fried? Anybody know about these things? It's a range rover own brand, radio / cassette player.

Re: Car Radio Code
Have you tried disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting?

Re: Car Radio Code
The manufacturer (of the vehicle) can reset it but, bearing in mind Range Rover service charges, it may be cheaper to buy a new radio if none of the other suggestions work.
Let's go Brandon!

Take the radio out, sometimes the code is written on the radio.

Surely that would make it a totally useless anti-theft device?gerryh wrote:Take the radio out, sometimes the code is written on the radio.

It's a bit like writing your PIN on your bank card!

Re: Car Radio Code
Countryboy has the code if I read his post correctly. I think enriques link is worth a try, sounds about right to me anyway.
Agreed Sid, my codes have always been written in the service book or owners manual.

I totally agree with you. I have never done it but I have seen it on some radios.El Cid wrote:Surely that would make it a totally useless anti-theft device?gerryh wrote:Take the radio out, sometimes the code is written on the radio.

Re: Car Radio Code
Hi Guys, sorry I didn't come back sooner but our WiFi node got struck by lightning on Friday morning and we didn't get service back 'till yesterday evening. I looked at the forums Enrique and left the radio switched on all evening as suggested but no go. It just displays the word SECURITY and is frozen. I think I'm stuffed Beach is right, noway I'm going to the agents to get it fixed, we'll just have to sing! Gerry I do have the code by the way. White Horse, yes, tried that!
