Postby RATTY » Wed Jan 30, 2013 8:31 am

Hi All.
Once again not sure if this is the right section, but no doubt El Cid will move it if neccessary.
Does anyone know of anyone who carrries out Shot or Bead blasting in the Malaga province area

I need some items cleaned on a car that I am rebuilding.

Looking forward for your replies

Hiya Ratty...........just did a quick google for powder coating and this looked promising
http://tinyurl.com/b2kqf3u

That's one of the things I'd miss in spain, not just being able to take your bag of bits any one of hundreds of little firms over here on the little Ind. estates, hand them 40 quid and the lot comes back like new :D

What's the project?

Yes they are well thought of in the gate/window/metal fabrication +it's all powder coated.
Depends also , where the OP is.

Hey Up!
I am what known in current parlance as a ‘Petrol Head’ and as SWMBO says ‘a child’ who has never grown up.
I am rebuilding the engine of my 1992 Suzuki Cappuccino (Go Google it) which seized last year. It is fitted with a competition ECU and Turbo and produces approx 120BHP from 650cc!
Whilst it is in bits I thought Id take the chance to clean and polish up some the aluminium castings to make the engine compartment look more presentable
To avoid boring other members I’ll PM you.

It certainly won't bore me Ratty....that's what's good about this forum and it's different sections, if it bores you then find a section that doesn't

I'd certainly be fascinated in how one goes about refurbing classic/old cars in Andalucia...in fact it's one of my main concerns when we have talked about moving across full time (not that it rates high in OHs thoughts  ).......everything and every service is easy to find over here........how awkward is it over there?

Nope there's only so many times you can answer the "where do I find salad cream" threads in the food section, so this is different and apt for cars section.

Keep us posted, and few before and after pics of the refurbished wouldn't go amiss either!

Cheers

I didn't realise there would be so much interest in this section.
Seeing that there is, maybe I should introduce myself a little better.(AM I allowed to do this? - dont know what is what on this forum)I'm a dinosaur really. I started riding a M/bike in Kenya in1962, so that will give you a clue as to how Old I am. With my wife, we have owned lots of High Perfomance cars. From Fiat Abarths through Ford Escort RS1600, tweaked Range Rovers and finally Subaru Imprezzers. Plenty in between

My Memsahib will be horrified that I have other Petrolheads to 'Talk to'. She thinks were are all Cretins. She may be right. She thinks I am a child who never grew up!
I am not at all interested in High Speed per se, just Power(lots of it) acceleration and handling

I have just written off our 350BHP 97 Scooby.
She is NOT a happy bunny despite me getting out without any injuries at all. No one else involved. Entirely my own fault. Cold dense air - wonderfull for a turbo! and a blind rise followed by a Yump. I was never Colin Mcrea!!! The take off was good but the landing was a trifle WRUFFF!
Scoobies do fly!!!

Pig Sick.
It was a cracker of a car fitted with a JDM STI lump with had also been tweaked.

Never look back!!
I have another second hand Scooby arriving in the next week by truck from the UK. To live without a Scooby is death!
The original and replacement was/is one of the Classic versions. Before they got too ugly!!
Have done UK - Andalucia many times.

Also in our time: Nairobi-Cape Town and Kano(Nigeria)-Uk before 'GingerBaker' did it. All with our young children.
Plenty of pics to post if anyone ineterested, But I dont know how to
I can do pics on e mail thats about it.

See ya

I am really pleased that it was only an out-of-control landing after a blind crest, and not a mother crossing the road pushing a pram, or a broken-down vehicle....when I did my advanced drivers' course I was taught that I should drive bearing in mind what I could see, what I could not see, and what I could reasonably expect to see!
Of course, this may have taken place on a private circuit, in which case I will quash my thoughts that you must be an out-of-control lethal lunatic.

I agree with you.
However the full story is: - It was on a road way out in the Campo, straight, which had allowed me to see what was on the road ahead, looking from way back, NOTHING! It was also dry.
Although I have driven that road 100s of times - it our only access to our Big local Village - I had not realised quite how severe the Yump was when taken at much higher speeds than usual, and under hard acceleration. Apart from that Mea Culpa.
FYI I have been driving since 1962, so have driven 100,000s of miles all over the world and this is the first accident that I have been involved with since I was 22-23 when I had two big ones. I learnt my lessons then.
