Registering a motorcycle.

Postby mhic » Wed Sep 25, 2013 8:40 am

I've run into a problem getting a bike matriculated here in Spain. To cut a long story short because, I have no permanent address in the UK I could not get my name on the V5. My brother the PO sent Swansea the part of the V5 that deals with permanent export and that is what I have to prove ownership. Had the engineer round last week to check the bike and prepare the ficha technica prior to the itv but apparently the bike is homolagado, anyone know if there is any way round this?
I can't ship the bike back to the UK, no where to ship it to and leaving a cracking bike to rot in the garage would be criminal.

As a biker I feel your pain. Would a gestor be able to move this along for you perhaps ?

Just draw up a 'factura' between your brother & you. You need one when buying a vehicle anyway.

Just like this;
LOS DETALLES de VEHÍCULO:

Número de matrícula:
Número de bastidor:

OBSERVACIONES:

ITV :

Vehículo vendido como visto y sin garantía.

PRECIO:

VENDEDOR:
DIRECCIÓN:

NUMERO de NIE:

FIRMA Y FECHA:

COMPRADOR :
DIRECCIÓN :

NUMERO DE NIE:

FIRMA Y FECHA:

Make sure it is headed 'Factura'.

Can't be done, the reason I got the bike was because my brother was dying and in fact he died two days after the bike arrived. Someone has pointed out that nowhere on the paper work is the model noted could this be the reason it's been knocked back I wonder?

You fill it all in yourself.
We've had to do it on numerous occasions when no bill of sale has been available.
The only way to know if lack of a model is the problem is to ask. Might be easier to do through a gestoria to get the correct reason.
Sorry to hear about your brother.

Dia duit a Colin, conus tá tú.
Yes the Virago 750 and I don't understand what's wrong with it. I have been told that there should be more numbers or letters on the frame/engine number which would show it's up to European standard. I'm wondering if it was bought new as a black import.
Gus, It was an experienced person who does lots of vehicle plate changes that arranged the engineer, am waiting for advice from a gestor and will be phoning Swansea tomorrow though their usual response is that the Spanish should be happy with the paperwork.

Mhic, send me the vin (frame) number and engine number and i will check it out. I have a feeling that when we were trying to get the exhaust pipe sorted that it was an import from USA.
PM if you like.

Scotty.
Thanks, I thought it looked wrong but it's one of the few phrases I remember.
