Spanish driving licence replacement

Postby gerryh » Mon Aug 15, 2016 1:56 pm

My wife had her purse stolen in Malaga this morning.
It was in her bag when we left home but not when she looked for it to pay for our coffees.
It was very easy to stop her Spanish and UK bank cards online.
Looked at getting her a new licence. Need an appointment with traffico and one of the obligatory questions is Nº Permiso Conducción (*). Don't know the number as she doesn't have her licence.
Looked at my driving licence and I can't see an obvious number on it.
Any ideas where I get get the number?
Cheers

Are you using this form?

https://sede.dgt.gob.es/Galerias/tramit ... ellano.pdf

I cannot see where it asks for the driving licence number.

An information sheet in English here:

If they have your NIE number they have everything they need to know on their database.

Yes I am using that form which gets taken to Traffico but to book an appointment online, via https://sedeapl.dgt.gob.es/WEB_NCIT_CON ... Cita.faces it asks for driving licence no.
Without it it won't let me book an appointment.

UPDATE
By selecting the "SOLICITUD DE CITA PREVIA PARA TRÁMITES EN OFICINA" option it allowed me to book an appointment with Just NIE number and Wife's name.

Further to the above.
Does my wife need to make a Denuncia to get a new licence?
Traffico doesn't appear to ask for a Denuncia.
I think it would be sensible to get one as then, if asked for her licence she can show the Denuncia as proof it has been stolen and show the appointment, Traffico form as proof she is applying for a new licence.
There aren't any ointments available until 29th Aug.

I know it's no help Gerry, but I never carry any original documentation, only authorised copies. The scanned images of ALL my documentation, are on the computer as a backup.

Our normal IDs (which are original) are 10 year old residence cards - never had a problem.

Incidentally, I was stopped by Trafico recently and we had no documentation at all - not even the copies - don't ask!

I have an app on my phone called "Alertcops" which has to be registered with the Guardia. I showed them that which includes my NIE and had no problems at all (except for the speeding fine!)

Both you and I are males. I also have scanned copies. And the alert cops app.
My wife, being female, carries her originals.
This is the second time she has had her purse stolen.
I was with her this time. Whoever stole it must have been very skilled and quick.
We weren't standing around much only at the tourist information office, waiting to cross the road and waiting in the queue in the coffee shop.

I know I got it wrong about UK licence numbers recently, but isn't your NIE also used as your licence number? Have you tried entering that in the licence number field?
And also not much help, but I have scanned copies of all 'Er indoors' documents as well as mine

The particular on line form I was trying to fill in asked for the NIE number and driving licence number in separate fields.
All in Spanish of course. Both fields, amongst others, were obligatory.

Just checked mine - the only number on it is my NIE.

Yes same here so I was wondering what licence number they want unless I was looking in the wrong area for getting an appointment and that area was for exchanging a UK licence for a Spanish one where they wanted the licence number of the UK licence?
On a separate issue who is responsible for issuing replacement EHIC cards for us UK pensioners?
I know it changed but can't remember if if was from DWP in the UK or INSS here in Spain?
Googling only seems to bring up using a EHIC card here in Spain as a UK holiday maker.

For S1 pensioners, they are issued by the DWP.

Sorry to hear about that gerry. Seems to be alot of criminality about surprised to say but i feel alot more uneasy in spain than the UK.I think i read on citizens advice that you need a denuncia to prove it was stolen.

Anyone ever showed the police a photocopy of a driving licence.would they except it?

I have some time ago, but it was a certified copy. They will "probably" accept a basic copy, depending on the reasons why they stopped you and also what sort of mood they are in.

I use the town hall. I put my passport, green form and driving licence on one A4 sheet. I think they charge about €2. It is invalid if you subsequently copy it. My town hall physically stick the till roll receipt to the document, that way you can see it is the original certified copy.
