ITV

Postby Evaready » Sun Jan 22, 2017 11:02 am

Does anyone know whether you can make an appointment for an ITV if you don't have the piece of paper reminding you to have one? We have moved and the post is not coming through and so I have not had the ITV notification. I am also a month late (because I didn't get the reminder). Furthermore, having not yet re-registered the car locally (for a variety of reasons) does anyone know if you have to re-register first and then have the ITV or whether you're u can have the ITV and then re-register. All thoughts very welcome and thanks in advance.

Assuming you're not talking about re-registering a foreign plated car? (you wouldn't get an ITV reminder for a non-Spanish reg vehicle!) Are you not supposed to register the car in your name within 15 days of buying it? Not sure. Anyway, I only ever started receiving ITV reminders a couple of years ago. Prior to that, I just reminded myself! You can book online here: https://www.itvcita.com/Welcome.do;jses ... DV4oboL+-Q**

I would just take it to ITV Station having done a on-line booking......... as that only needs Registration Number (Matricula )and last 6 of the Chassis number (Bastidor ).

At least you will then be legal and be able to drive to Town Hall and get registered for "road tax"

There is nowhere on the Pass form that has your address .they now include a photo(rear of vehicle) of the registration number.

Thanks so much for that- we have moved within Spain and it is a Spanish registered car and always has been. Will try making an appointment online and tipping up and see where we get to.

You can change the address details on your matriculation details and also the address on your driving licence very easily at your new local town hall at the same time as you get a new Padron certificate.

As long as you are in the same province, you can use any ITV centre.

We've never had a reminder for an ITV, didn't know they sent any out. We just look at the sticker on the windscreen!

We always get a reminder - usually about a week after the ITV runs out!

We always get a reminder The one time I did it, I just turned up, paid and got in the queue. The whole process was painless and easy.

you can take any spanish car to any ITV station (*in the same province) at any time between 0645 and 1930/2000 monday to friday or 0700-1400 on saturdays

you dont *need* an appointment but if you dont have one you can wait between 10 minutes and 12 hours, and they do not garentee to get a test that day.

to make an appointment you can do it online with the reg and chassis number OR date of first registration, or over the phone on 902 59 59 59.

if you are "early" taking the car you will get a reduction in the cost. if you are "late" taking it, you will have to pay 10% or so more.

I just had my ITV done at Málaga (Guadalhorce) having booked online as usual, and being surprised that they do Saturdays. What was even more surprising though was that the usual mayhem and chaos and crowds were non-existent. It seems Saturdays are much quieter at the testing station, which makes the whole process just that little bit less stressful. I was in and out within half an hour. Usually, I've had to wait at least that long just to book in at the office, and have never had the actual test less than half an hour later than the appointment time.
Hope this info helps someone.

ITV stations have been offering longer hours for a while now, and restricting access to (? commercial) vehicles without appointment for retest. Also been sticking much better to appointment times, which reduces the need for drivers to hang about on site . . . hence the place seems much quieter.

UK could take a lesson from the Spanish system.
