Re: Land Rover woes
It is a 1.8 Land Rover Freelander 1.8 16V XE year 2001, mileage 141,000 k
It has only done it on the last couple of days and it passed its ITV on Wednesday.
It seems to miss a bit, jolt around, the light (Engine/Emissions) flashes for a couple of minutes and it goes off. It does lose power a bit but recovers.
Any help more than gratefully received!

Re: Land Rover woes
Hi Enrique, how's things mate. Yes I still check in every day as it is one of the 4 forums I visit and have saved on my devices.
I don't post much as with having our house up for sale over there at present don't really have much input to relay.
I'll probably fire up again when we get an offer and need advice on cutting and running
With regards to OP's car tripping the MIL it as per usual could be a lot of things. I'm assuming it's the 1.8k engine?
Googling will just throw up every fault in the book. My advice for anyone running a car in Spain, or anywhere for that matter is to buy a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 reader off Ebay, contact me if you want to know the model I took over to Spain and leave in the car.
Very basic but it will read all basic fault codes and give you a pointer to the issue, and maybe stopped you being fleeced at the repair shop.
As for this problem I know for a fact with my involvement with K series motors fitted at one time in Caterhams that they are sensitive to altitude. Lads used to complain on foreign trips (spain included) of MIL coming on and loss of power in the mountains.
The culprit was the baromic pressure sensor and for these trips one with different values was suggested and retrofitted.
If yours is an ex UK car this just might be the issue, if so no real worries to keep on driving it. The OBD2 gadget would confirm this.
Funnily enough my Vitara sometimes trips the light for this reason too as confirmed by the reader, at the coast it is fine.
Other than that it is not really worth me guessing at other things as you could go on for ages. Clean its air filter and take it from there

Re: Land Rover woes
Go into Jocks Garage. He will read the fault. It could be plugs or electronic ignition.

Re: Land Rover woes
So NOT to be recommended judging by the comments on that thread then
Re: Land Rover woes
Well a muppet can read a fault code. It is plug and scan. Jocks have some of the top equipment.
Re: Land Rover woes
UPDATE UPDATE..............
I got up to the garage at 8.30 and they changed 4 spark plugs. Cost including labour & IVA 123 Euros
I'm guessing it could have been worse!

Re: Land Rover woes
Hi,
Pricey...........unless the Plugs cost a fortune , which they seen to do even on E-bay.......still good you got sorted.
A local garage up this way changed four glow plugs on a Citroën diesel for 80€ inc...........having to remove a fair bit of the "plumbing" and charged 10€ labour.............
Added:;
On reflection and checking real prices you did good.......... guess I'm spoilt buying parts trade and fitting them myself...........
