Postby Davidbid » Mon Jan 14, 2019 5:35 pm

Hi
Where can I get my Spanish car insured so that I can be be out of Spain for more than three months? 6 months maximum?
Presently I am with Linea Directa.

Well as it stands at the moment under the EU 4th directive a car has to be insured in the country that it is registered in.

I am presently with Linea Direct and asked that question when I first took out the policy 2 years ago. They told me at the time that there was no time limit and just be sure to carry my green card. I am pretty sure the tow truck is Europe wide also

Why don’t you just ask Linea Directa or look in your policy?

Hi Guys
Thanks for the prompt replies. It all spurred me on to call Linea Directa and that cleared up my misunderstanding. When I first took out the policy I asked how long I could be out of Spain and they said 90 days. I asked if it could be extended - they said no.
However, on enquiring today it semms that the maximum CONSECUTIVE days is 90 but I can go for 60 days then come back, then go for 90 days then return.......etc
Just have to be sure to carry the green card so everyone was partially correct.
Thanks again!!
