Spaying kittens

Postby Bongtrees » Wed Jul 16, 2008 9:02 am

Any advice on spaying kittens?

I have a wild(ish) female kitten in the log pile which i know will not go away because the grandchildren kept playing with it so I want to make sure it has no more.

When they are spayed do they have to go back to have stitches removed or do they disolve?

One trip to the vets with a wild kitten will be bad enough but 2 visits might be difficult if I cannot catch it the second time.

And what is best age to have this done ?

TIA

*think* they have to be over 6 months old. its one trip normally. its a very small incision. we were told to only come back if theres any complications.

6 months is about the right time.
The stitches can be either solvable or non disolvable which will need removing.
Ask the vet to use disolvable ones.
Good on you have having it done. You will obviously be a responsible and caring owner.
Cheers
