We will be staying just outside Frigiliana for a month in November with a view to finding somewhere permanent to live. This will be the first time we've brought our cats to Spain, and I'm not sure what cat food availability is like.
Our cats will only eat the single portion food, such as Gourmet Perle, the Felix "oh, so" range, and other more expensive options. Will we be able to get this anywhere reasonably nearby, or will we need to bring a good supply with us and look to travelling further for it or getting it sent from the UK after that?
(I've had trouble finding "specialist" things in Spain before, and while we're flexible in what we eat, I want to keep as much as possible normal for the cats because it will already be very unsettling for them.)

Hi lulubel,
You should have no problem getting your cat food.
I looked after a friend's cat for long periods and and it had all the Gourmet type food and Hill's scientific stuff as well , all sourced locally .

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Are you staying in San Rafael, by any chance?lulubel wrote:We will be staying just outside Frigiliana for a month in November

It looks like we should be fine, then.
I'm not sure exactly where we're staying, Frank. I think it's about half way between Frigiliana and Nerja, but it's a Frigiliana address. This is our first time in this part of Spain, as well as the first time travelling to Spain with the cats, so it's going to be quite an adventure.

OK, just being nosey! Spanish friend of ours has properties there, and I see one is booked in November for a month, probably just a coincidence. A month long booking is not unusual for him, so could be anywhere. I was looking at his property in the village itself, and that is booked solid until end of next March! What crisis!

Re: Cat food availability
Most supermarkets sell a range of cat food. Tins, sachets and trays. You'll have no problem.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!
Re: Cat food availability
Look lulubel. You're coming to Spain to try out Spanish food. It's only fair that your cats have the same opportunity. They will be off their food anyway - what with the travelling - so I suggest you feed them any old rubbish. If they're hungry enough they'll eat it. If not, then they'll starve. Assuming you manage to coax the little blighters, think of the saving! If the cats DON'T take to the different food, they'll soon let you know.

careful..the cats might go looking for a mowse to eat if they don´t get their favourite food
Re: Cat food availability
Have to say, that's my thoughts! Street cats don't turn their noses up at anything, if they are hungry enough, they'll eat anything! Or starve!Mowser wrote: If they're hungry enough they'll eat it. If not, then they'll starve.
