How are things with the kitten - did it survive? (I hope so)

Re: Hand rearing week old orphaned kittens
Kitty is now 4 weeks and 2 days old. She, Mili (neighbor's children had a draw for names) is doing really well. I tried weaning her and she started lapping straight away. Just got to get her to pee in the litter tray and not in the corner behind the bathroom door. Our jack russel loves Mili, fat boy I would not trust yet, he is very wary of Mili. She is too small to run about so after a bit of running about we have to put her back in the bathroom.
The other kitten, Miki, has settled well, the dogs like him, after the first day of hissing and spitting they were all fine.
I hope to get a photo soon of both kitties soon, provided they stay still long enough

Try putting some litter in an old supermarket meat tray and put it in the spot where she's peeing.

Re: Hand rearing week old orphaned kittens
When our hand reared kitten was about 4/5 weeks old we decided time to start weaning her.
Not interested in lapping milk, not interested in soft kitten food. Only interested in her bottle. Tried liquidising cat food and feeding via a syringe to see if she would get to like the taste.
One day we found her standing in our dog's feeding bowl crunching up his dried dog food.
So she got dried kitchen food after that, along with her bottle and then . She was soon only eating dried cat food and lapping water.
Cheers
Gerry
