Horses and olives

Postby von1068 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 9:48 pm

Just a quick check on this, have googled it and found no problem.

I'm looking to buy a place with an olive grove but want to put my horses & donkeys out within it. Any issue with this? The only thing I have found is that Russian Olive (which is a shrub not an actual olive) is poisonous.

Cheers

Hi von1068,
Welcome to The Forum............

Olive grove......... :?: depends where you are up this way the boundaries are marked with stones so not fenced.........the animals will damage the olive trees if close. Flies will be a big problem for you as well.

As you can see I'm a great horse lover........had one(well OH did) some years back......now got a quad...... :D
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Hi Enrique

thanks for the reply  . The land isn't fenced, it's something we will have to get sorted before the horses come across. When you say they will damage the trees do you mean they will eat the bark? They will be turned out in-between the olive trees with shelters and a large barn to get into.

Cheers
Y.

Our old neighbours horses ate the leaves off the trees
