Human shampoo for dogs

Does anyone know if it safe to use human shampoo on a dog, a Golden Retriever?

Any advice gratefully received.

I use no tears baby shampoo on my dog and I also used it on all our working horses for a long time, I was really happy when it was first in the shops

Like Julie we have also used baby shampoo, but you have to make sure that you rinse them off thoroughly.
Recently I tried some home made soap which worked well and they smell better .
Made from recycled olive oil..by the way.

I just remembered that I have some pure olive oil soap, maybe I'll grate some of that. Good thinking, thanks folks.
