Hi guys,
I'm looking for animal charities that accept volunteers.
So far I have found the following:
Tail - http://www.tailtorrox.org/ Up the road from Malaga. Mainly dogs.
Ayandena - http://www.asociacionayandena.org/ Near Seville. Mainly dogs.
Protectora El Buen Amigo - http://www.protectoraelbuenamigo.es/por ... ex.php/es/ Near Seville. Mainly dogs.
Arca de Noe - http://arcanoecordoba.es/ Near Cordoba. Mainly dogs
ARCH - http://horserescuespain.org/ Near Coin. Mainly horses.
I've tried Google and searching for rescue centres but not a lot of places have websites.
If anyone knows of any organisations please let me know as I am coming to Andalucia this summer.
Thanks.
Brian

Hi Brian
Welcome to the forum.
Whereabouts in Andalucia will you be based?
I'm sure there will be a rescue centre who gladly accept your help.
Cheers
Gerry

http://www.casnerja.org/
There is also CAS in Nerja.
I know that TAIL in Torrox has a compound and always welcomes dog walkers. Where will you be staying as the charities you list above are all some distance apart.

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Re: Animal rescue charities
Hi guys,
Thanks for the input so far. I tried Google and used Spanish search terms but I'm getting nothing.
I haven't chosen a place to settle yet. I am retired and what is important is that I have something to do, and I want to work with animals.
In an ideal world I would be settling somewhere away from the tourist hordes. I speak basic Spanish so I don't mind being somewhere local.
Keep 'em coming.
Cheers

The one near Estepona is ADANA - dogs and cats.
Re: Animal rescue charities
Just bear in mind access to the rescue centre. I know if it was on a steep dirt track, I wouldn't be able to drive but some charities have little second hand shops and I could help out there.

Probably because they're mostly run by foreigners.pathfinder_05 wrote: I tried Google and used Spanish search terms but I'm getting nothing.

Re: Animal rescue charities
Protectora is the spanish for rescue association.
Wherever you end up you will find a dog rescue group near you and not all are ex-pat orientated so your spanish will come in handy. There are all kinds of groups, fully charitable organisations with own kennels/paddocks/vet care etc, down to little groups of volunteers who take in dogs to their own homes while finding adoption for them, relying on local donations. Many of the Municipal pounds (perreras) also work with local rescue groups and refuges to get their ever-over-flowing unwanted dog population re-housed and eventually adopted. One group here in Huelva province works with groups in France, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Switzerland to rehome dogs, mutts, mongrels, mastin herding dogs, hunting dogs and greyhounds ... there is no end to the work needed and good folk to help out in all kinds of ways.
Find your preferred area and then look for the refuges, protectoras, etc ...
Good luck

Re: Animal rescue charities
Thanks everyone for the input.
This website seems to be a directory for everything pet/animal related.
http://bambu-difunde.net/directorio-pro ... /region-30
They have 71 entries for Andalucia. Although some of the websites are down.
