Hi I am going to be travelling with my 2 year old and 3.5 month old dogs to our house in Spain for the first time, and I wondered if anyone can advise me on 2 things please?
Firstly has anyone had the new pet healthcare certificates and knows what is required for this? Apart for costing a fortune!!!
Secondly what are the requirements for obtaining a Spanish pet passport? I know they need to be chipped, up to date vaccinations and rabies, I've been told the period for the rabies booster in Spain is different to the UK? Also it says there are different rules if the jab hasn't been done by an EU vet? Also are there any requirements on returning to the UK please?
Any advice gratefully received.

Re: Travelling with dogs
Hi vix2000,
1) Only a "Certified" Vet can issue the Pet Healt certificate
https://www.gov.uk/taking-your-pet-abro ... rn-ireland
Spain requires an annual Rabies booster vaccination.
2) Obtaining a Spanish Pet Passport.......... I'd be intersted in the Procedure once you have cracked it.
Looking at the hassle last year we left our Husky in UK Kennels..........

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
Re: Travelling with dogs
A friend who travels with 4 small dogs every year has now had them swapped over to Spanish pet passports. Its much cheaper and easier apparently to travel now they are on Spanish papers. Her local vet in Mijas sorted it.

Getting a pet passport in Spain is very easy.
Just go to your local Spanish vet here in Spain and they do everything for you.
