Complaint for harassment against a bank

Postby Jool » Mon Dec 28, 2009 4:39 pm

How do you do this?

I have received numerous calls for someone else on my phone and explained until I am blue in the face that my number does not belong to the person they want. I received silent phone calls late at night, calls with noise only and nothing else and calls only a few minutes apart all seeking the same person and never recording they have the wrong number. I finally found out they are from Santander bank yet all they will say is I have to complain at a branch.......I am not a client of Santander and see no reason why I should have to be further inconvenienced and go to a local town just to complain about their error and I cannot believe it is legal to harass people late at night or with silent or noisy phone calls.........(I don´t mean voice noise but that noise they use to disperse crowds etc)

I am not talking about the odd call but at least 20, probably nearer 30 sometimes 5 in one morning, using different mobile numbers but recently only the same mobile number.......all asking for the same person so clearly the same organisation........

I am now waiting for an english speaking person to contact me as they normally have had some training in real customer service in a different working environment and thus I am hoping I will get more help there, this is my normal strategy when confronted with the unhelpful anti people and especially anti customer set up of so many spanish businesses......

What is the law about this please David? Is it allowed to phone people as late as midnight etc etc?

Do you honestly believe that a Spanish bank would make nuisance calls late at night using various mobile numbers in order to disguise their identity?
all asking for the same person so clearly the same organisation

Yes of course,absolute undeniable proof.

No I would not have believed it if it had not actually happened........and I have all the numbers recorded on my mobile phone including recorded messages of noise amongst others all from the same mobile number and when I dial it, guess who answers....yes you guessed it, Santander........funny that???? So there is real evidence.....the other mobile number was used less often but all the nuisance calls came from one mobile number which Santander answer when it is dialled.........

Thanks for your ever so helpful post though........

Try this site:

http://whocallsme.com/

Santander is an odious company which uses extremely questionable business techniques including selling contact details to third parties. See one of my previous posts from over a year ago:

you´re not secretly compiling an "expats guide to complaining and denouncing in Spain" with advice from the forum are you Jool? there seems to be no end of businesses, associations and institutions that you are fighting with !!

Keep a referee whistle beside your phone. Next time you get a call, take a deep breath and blow sharply for 10 seconds.

This was a spanish mobile number - 615 129791 - so beware of it!

Julian it may seem like I like fights but actually I don´t I hate them, and I never instigate them, however I see no reason why I, or anyone, should silently agree to be treated like **** while organisations lie to us, cheat us, break the law and treat us all shabbily, if we ALL complained they would have to start thinking but instead everyone says oh well and so on it continues.......

Mowser I like it, think I may do that.........but by then of course I am already disturbed by the unsocial call...........even on weekends.

" if we ALL complained "

but not ALL of us find things to complain about with everyone we deal with.

So you would not complain at all if you received loads of phone calls at inconvenient times for someone else and had told the caller that numerous times? Come on Julian I know you love to bait me but............or perhaps you just have very low standards

Funnily enough I thought of that Julian, result was they just called more often! I even pressed disconnect before picking up, still they kept on, hence why other action is needed, I tried all the obvious things

If you've got their number, why not phone them and keep hanging up?
Is it not possible to call Telefonica and ask them to block that number?

It may be an idea to check out what is called "Listas Robinson". Here's a site:-
http://www.listarobinson.es/default.asp

A part of it states,

"Robinson List Service is a service of advertising exclusion managed by the Federation of Commerce and Direct Marketing, established as provided in the regulations on Data Protection.

"This service is part of the field of advertising directed at a person's name and a mailing address, an email address or a specific phone number. "

You could I suppose set up a free call transfer to their own number. That'll fox them! Trouble is that you then pay for the transfer.

Can you do that - divert a specific incoming number to another number without affecting any of your other incoming calls? If so how please - I have a Nokia?
