PAYING FAMILY SOCIAL SECURITY PROBLEM

Postby mageetg » Wed Jan 06, 2010 12:16 pm

ME AND MY PARTNER HAVE BEEN LIVING IN SPAIN FOR 10 YEARS AND PAYING SOCIAL SECURITY. FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS WE BOTH HAVE BEEN PAYING AUTONOMO. I READ AN ARTICAL IN ONE ONE THE PAPERS A FEW YEARS AGO SAYING THAT IF YOU GO TO AN OFFICE IN MALAGA AND REGISTER YOU HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS A MARRIED COUPLE. THIS WOULD MEAN I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PAY ONE TO COVER US. I HAVE A 3 YEAR BOY WHO WAS BORN HERE WE HAVE THE LIBRO DE FAMILIA WITH BOTH OUR NAMES ON IT, HIS SPANISH BIRTH CERT AND EMPADRON WHICH SHOWS WE ALL LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD NO WE MUST STILL PAY BOTH AND DONT QUAILIFTY. DOES ANYONE HAVE AND MORE INFO ON THIS.

I think we need more info - have you registered as parejas de hecho? Contact the British consulate for info as this is done in Malaga.

Are you working in the same business? It is true that one of you can work and register the other (and your children) as your dependants for health care cover but you cannot just pay one autonomo and have 2 people working.
