EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
How do I export my Spanish registered scooter to the UK? I know what I have oto do in the UK - what do I have to do in Spain?
(I've a feeling this is going to be horribly complicated).

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
This should tell you what you need to know:
http://www.dgt.es/portal/es/oficina_vir ... los/bajas/
specifically:

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately my Spanish is not up to sufficiently understanding the document.
Does anyone have a reply in English?

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
However, this is how Babelfish translates it: (Spanish translator would not let me paste the text in, but thanks anyway).
b) By transfer from the vehicle to another country (export) OK...One is the assumption in which the holder of a vehicle has decided his transfer to the foreigner, causing therefore low in the Spanish Registry of vehicles. ? QUE? The loss is realised in the Headquarters of Traffic (or through an Administrative Manager).????? For it you will have to contribute: - Request, properly filled up Yes, understand- Documentation of the vehicle (permission of circulation and card of technical inspection) Yes, understand this too- Rate of loss - Corresponding fiscal Documentation Pay the Government some money I assume .
So probably not worth it. We were only going to take it to the UK to trade it in for a proper motorbike.
Thanks all for your advice.

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
or put another way ...............
b) For movement of the vehicle to another country (exportation)
It is a question of the supposition in which the holder of a vehicle has decided his(her, your) movement abroad, causing therefore it(he,she) goes down in the Spanish Record of vehicles. The fall is realized in the Headquarters of Traffic (or across an Administrative Manager). For it you will have to reach:
- Request, due refilled
- Documentation of the vehicle (excise licence and card of technical inspection)
- Rate of fall
- Fiscal corresponding documentation

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
All we did in the UK to export our car into Spain was sent a tear-off slip from the V5 document to say it was being permanently exported on such-and-such a date.
Oh well, this is Spain....and why do something as simple as that when loads of form-filling, bureaucracy and charges will do instead????
Thanks all once again.

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
Sorry I didn't have time to translate the link when I posted it. To expand on Enrique's information you need:
A completed application form
http://www.dgt.es/was6/portal/contenido ... ellano.pdf
The white card (permiso de circulación) and the green one with the ITV stamps on it (Ficha técnica)
The form showing you have paid the fee at the bank
And I would assume the fiscal documentation to be proof of payment of the municipal circulation tax

FOR SCAMPICAT
FROM DAVID SEARL
IF your scooter is registered in your Spanish town and you pay the municipal vehicle tax every year, they will continue to charge you this tax until your vehicle has been dado de baja, or de-registered. The process as described by the other posters, sort of, is not too arduous. Fill in the form, take your latest municipal vehicle tax receipt, pay the fee, which I think is abou 17 euros, paid at trafico, and you are away. I prefer the Uk system also. Tear off the strip and send it in. Wow, I guess I have lived here too long.
Good luck with it, David Searl

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
Thank you all.
Yes, it is registered and we have been paying the tax (7 euros a year )and we have the other documents too.
I suppose 17 euros is not going to break the bank!
Now all we have to do is get it to the UK (too far to ride it). Hopefully it will go in the back of our car . (Seat Alhambra with all the seats out - it is HUGE!).
Thanks once again.

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
Hi I have another question, in fact two:
1. Our scooter was due for its first ITV last November but we haven't had it done because we are not using it at the moment; it is in the garage. Will this matter for trafico purposes?
2. Does anyone know where the trafico office in Granada is (or even Ugijar if there is one). We are in the mountains in Granada province.

Re: EXPORTING a vehicle FROM Spain
Address of DGT Granada from their web site:
Carretera Alfacar, 1, C.P. 18071
Teléfono: 958 156 911 - Información general: 060
Fax: 958 153 912
There appears to be no other DGT office in Granada province. I don't know about the ITV. You will have to try it and see.
