Renewing UK licence into Spain one ...

Hi

Have been meaning to change my UK licence over and now it has run out so have to do it asap. HAve got all the other paperwork ready to go and I can´t find my green bit, I haven´t used it in years! The DGT say they wont change it over without it but I don´t have a UK address nor have live in the UK for years to ask DVLA to send out a new one. Anyone got any ideas?

I haven´t actually called the DVLA yet, will do it tomorrow but not looking forward to sitting on hold for half the morning.

I'm afraid Idon't have a solution but this is what happened to my Dutch neighbour some years ago, apparently his licence ran out and he faced the same problem, he was told by that officially he didn't actually have a driving licence (which is true if it's expired) he did eventually get a result but he first had to go back to Holland and renew his expired licence, sorry it's no help.

You will need to do the same as Retro's neighbour. This is an extract from the DGT site on the requirements for changing a driving licence:

3. Permiso de conducción comunitario: original en vigor y fotocopia.

If you have to go to all the trouble of renewing your UK licence, why not just keep the new UK licence? Or is it me?

The licence has expired so legally, there is no licence, new or old !!
