I am registered as autonomo but will not be working in September. I'm considering signing
off in September & back on again in October.
Can anyone tell me if this would be possible &, if so, how I'd go about doing it.
Thank you.

Is it worth the hassle for one month?

Re: signing off autonomo
I was autónomo for ten years and my wife has been for thirty years and still is and despite a couple of short periods where we have been unable to work through illness we paid the quota every single month.
I agree with Costakid, trying to baja for one month is far more trouble than it is worth.

Re: signing off autonomo
True, It's a hassle but it would also depend if you can afford to pay out almost 300 pounds, which won't make any difference to your pension.
You will need to visit your local tax and social security office to sign off then do the same a month later to sign back on.

Re: signing off autonomo
I know many Spanish people who 'sign off' for a month or so ,on a regular basis.
May be a bit of hassle the first time but the next time it will be easy...300 euros gets a lot of shopping from Lidl.
As Mark states , just go to your local Soc.Sec Office and fill in the relevant forms, you may even find that you qualify for a 'food parcel ' !

Gordon

Littleeak asked --
''One other thing.......... am I correct in thinking I have to sign off before the start of September?''
I would suggest that you go to the Employment office as soon as possible to request the correct forms and application dates etc.
Also because of summer holidays there may be only 'skeleton' staff available, so may I suggest that you go early...and take all of your paperwork with you...

Gordon.
