Email re Digital Certificate?

Postby Wicksey » Mon Aug 31, 2015 10:15 am

I received an email this morning from info@fmnt.es. It starts off :

Estimado Usuario/a,

Is this phishing or has anyone else received it. It doesn't ring true to me as surely it would be addressed to me personally. I haven't clicked on the link as I am always very aware of possible scams like this.

Hi Wicksey,
If you already have a Valid in date Digital Certificate then there is nothing to do.

When you come to renew always use the Links provided in The Forum FAQ's.

To check when your Certificates run out ......look in your Browser ....Options.... Certificates..

(Some Browsers will vary on the commands used)

I recently renewed and there is now a four year time on them.

It is planned to replace the Digital Certificate with a totally new system called cl@ve. It does not rely on you installing it on your PC - it can be used on any device.

It's not dissimilar to the system used for increased security on systems like Gmail. Essentially, once set up, you receive a PIN on your mobile phone which you can use on the site you wish to access.

Hello

Can anyone please advise on the following email (x 2) I received. I can only assume this has been sent to me because I complete our annual tax form online and insert both mine and my husband's NIE numbers (by the way, he has not had an email about his certificate). We originally obtained our certificates in 2000/1 when we purchased a property so don't understand why I am being asked to renew mine which is over 4 years old anyway:

Caducidad de su certificado FNMT
Estimado/a usuario/a:

nuestra SEDE Electrónica (OBTENER CERTIFICADO https://www.sede.fnmt.gob.es/certificad ... ona-fisica) o

Atentamente,

Hi lynndm,
The way it reads to me its your Digital signature.........expiry 3/3/2017

So you can renew upto 60days in advance of it expiring...........

PS: you may want to edit out your NIE...........
