Community General Meetings

Postby Jytte » Fri Mar 11, 2016 4:24 pm

Is it possible to conduct General Meetings in English if a majority voting agrees to this?
Some owners state that, by LAW, has to be conducted in Spanish.
The Minutes would of course be translated to Spanish.

At our AGMs common sense prevails
The community is 50/50 English and spanish.
A good number of Brits always turn up.
If the Spanish have nothing to complain about or have no agenda then not one of them attends.
In that case the meeting is conducted in English and we're done in 25 minutes and off to the pub.
If the Spanish attend en masse then its conducted in Spanish, there is a 10 second precis of each topic in English and the meeting lasts 3 1/2 hours.

The official record in the Minutes Book has to be in Spanish, but I don't think anywhere in the LPH is there any stipulation of which language/s the meeting discussions should be held in. Logic and courtesy suggest as we are in Spain and governed by a Spanish law, at least one should be Spanish.

Minutes must be recorded in Spanish, but otherwise any agreed language can be used in meetings, by majority consent.
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Not the Administrator's decision, Jytte, nor the President's.

Just wind up support from fellow owners and get it on the agenda for the next AGM.
