Just asking on behalf of a friend who has a flat and has been told that the flat which is underneath has suffered from the influxs of water! However it is unclear where the water is coming from. The people who manage the Urbanisation have been in the flat and said they cannot see a leak from her flat and also there is a roof as well where the water could be coming from, none-the-less they want my friend to get in her insurers even though they have no idea where the leak is coming from.
Also who would be responsible for pipes which lead from one flat to another! Would it be the community are each flat owner.

Re: WATER PIPES LEADING TO ONE FLAT FROM ANOTHER
Had a similar experience when I was working in Spain where the ground floor apartment kitchen ceiling flooded and collapsed destroying the kitchen, not noticed til the owners came for one of their holidays. Turned out to be a dodgy waste pipe that had been trickling grey waste water over their ceiling over many weeks. The "offending" apartment was actually 2 floors above and to one side (the others were unoccupied) but in this case the responsibility was with the community as they were deemed to be responsible for the structure of the building and the interconnecting pipes. The community insurers paid for the repairs to the pipe and the damage to the apartment.

Thank you for that response. Very helpful I will copy and paste that over to her. Yes it is similar. The flat actually is next door not below and also it has a roof!

Anyway after a lot of pushing they have at last agree to have the community insurers go in and see where the leak is coming from!
