Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
Does anyone have any experience of walking in to a bank and paying the bill in cash?
I have finished my Renta and want to choose the option to pay at the bank or Caja.
Can I just print out the bill and then go to any bank with cash and pay the bill?

Didn't work for me, although things could have changed. I said to the Cashier "what! you're a bank and you don't take cash but he was adamant.

Bills which are payable in cash (IBI or utility bills, for example) have a list of banks where you can pay printed on them - you can't pay them at just any bank. I paid the plus valia in cash when I sold my house, but of course that was payable to the Ayuntamiento, not the AEAT. I don't know if you can pay AEAT bills in cash or not.
Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
It was a listed bank as I read on the bill.

I didn't suggest it wasn't, katy. I was replying to the OP who asked if you could pay bills at any bank.

I think you can select cash payment on the last page of the declaration.

Thanks All
So it seems that like almost everything in Spain...it's suck and see.
I have chosen the cash payment option on the last page of Renta. I intend to then go to one of the banks listed that says I can pay the bill in cash.
Free at Last and Katy. When were you particular experiences? Also what bank did you try?

Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
I paid my plus valia in May 2017 at a branch of Santander (not my own bank, which wasn't on the list). It was over €4k so I asked if it would be a problem to pay in cash, given the legal limits on cash transactions, but they said not. But as I said, that was to the Ayuntamiento not AEAT. Banks also normally have notices posted in branches saying they will only accept bill payments during certain hours (8.30 to 10.30 is pretty common) on certain days of the week (different for different banks, but not normally on Mondays or Fridays).

It seems cash is ok.

Yes I read it on the Renta as well whilst doing my declaration.....but I was seeking people's experience of actually paying in a bank with cash. As you said above you were unsuccessful, which bank did you try?
Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
I think it was Banco Popular in San pedro de Alcantara but as I said it was years ago. Knowing how things work it may depend on the individual cashier.

Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
We have always (twenty years?) paid our Renta Tax in our local rural village Santander (where we have our account), usually by tarjeta but occasionally by cash.....
The clerk usually suggests that we have no need to pay until we sell the property, but accepts our excuse that "We are English" with a philosophical smile
Hope that this helps......

Am I missing something?
What connection has paying your Renta, Spanish income tax, got to do with selling your property?
Cheers

Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
We think that his logic is that the Hacienda will pick-up on the unpaid tax when the property is sold, and clam it from the proceeds, plus of course the late payment charges?
Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
Extremely dubious logic in my opinion.

Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
On a related subject. If I go down the direct debit route and let the Hacienda deduct the amount owing from my bank account in Spain, in one go (not spilt 60/40)
1. What date do they actually deduct the money?
2. Does the account have to be in my name? i.e could I use my wife's bank account (not joint account?)

Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
The payment was taken out of my account on 2 July last year (paid in total, not split into two instalments). I don't know if you can pay from someone else's account.
Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
Yes taken out of our joint account for my tax on July 2nd. My wife got a refund a short time after the declaration was submitted.
I opted for 60/40 split so 2nd half taken on Nov 5th.
Cheers

Re: Paying Renta Tax Bill in Cash at the bank
Mine was taken from our bank account at the moment I submitted the declaration. My wife's rebate was credited within a couple of days. I use the NRC option with a digital certificate.
