Anthisan cream
Anthisan cream
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the genuine Anthisan cream (anti bite and sting) here in Spain?
Re: Anthisan cream
THank you, I´ll check the other ingredients too.....as some mix the active ingredient with lanolin stuff and that is not good for me....but very helpful,

Re: Anthisan cream
Following up on this, having finished the last tube of Anthisan, the chemist says that mepiramina maleato (the active ingredient of Anthisan) is not available in cream form in Spain.
The correct equivalent is Polaramine cream.

I was in Torre del Mar a few weeks back and was told this is the Spanish equivalent. Sorry if it's not what you were looking for.

The name you gave is the chemical compound in Anthisan - it's written on the label.
The stuff he sold me, Polaramine is the Spanish equivalent as the other one is not available - he checked it out on his computer and he says it does not exist in Spain. The other one will be just as good as it is a well known antihistamine drug and is also available in pills and liquid form - and it's probably cheaper.

If you want a good cream for mozzie bites go to the vets and ask for a tube of Fuciderm. We use it in preference to anything else and is stronger than what you buy in the chemist. It is an antibiotic and steroid cream. Works as well on humans as it does on dogs.

Re: Anthisan cream
Let's be careful here.
Anthisan is an anti allergy product to reduce the itching of simple bites from various insects - and it does that well and it is used for a very short period - maybe just once.
Fucidin is an antibiotic with corticosteroids to be used when bites get infected or with other sorts of nasty skin complaints - that's a different scenario and it should be used until the condition clears up.
Two different products - both very effective but for two very different problems.

El Cid I should have said use it sparingly and wash your hands after using it. But when you get a nasty bite as my husband does quite frequently. he seems to be allergic to horsefly bites amongst others. it comes in very useful.
For dog complaints e.g. hotspots, it is great.

I know what you mean about horsefly bites. I still vividly remember one I had at the tender age of 8

Yes, it is available. We were offered it as an option to the antihistamine cream - it may well be cheaper than at the vets. Many veterinary drugs are overpriced.Julie wrote:Is the fucidin not available at the chemist ?

My wife swears by Anthisan...she's tried everything else in Spain, without success..
We've just posted a tube to some friends in Spain, they couldn't wait until we get back...£2.55 in Tesco...Postage ..can't remember...but not much !.
If anyone wants me to send them some..let me know..no problem....
In fact I'm quite happy to send most things out for anyone, whilst we are here..just ask.
Regards,
Gordon.

Mrs Countryboy says, LOUDLY, Hear Hear! She swears by it too and has found nothing to touch it either here or in the UK. People react differently to different things I 'spose.BENIDORM wrote:My wife swears by Anthisan...she's tried everything else in Spain, without success..
