Postby princess peach » Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:56 am

Can anyone tell me when the card has to be renewed, there is no expiry date on the actual card.
I have just tried to type my details into the online booking an appointment link(given to me by Gerryh)and it says, there is no record of me :? Weve not long had these cards(under a year)could it be a blip?

My guess is you entered the data incorrectly.

What information did you give when you originally registered with the health centre?
DNI, passport, resedencia number?
You will need to use the same information when booking for an appointment.

Gerry,I used the exact info what is written on my spanish healthcard. Then when that didnt work i typed in my passport number instead of my DNI..that didnt work either,so i tried my sons card details, and then his passport number.. :( nada. :(
We have used the clinic in Spain before, for my sons 14 year old injections with no problems, just showed his card and he was given an appt...maybe the site was playing up.will have to try again.I was just wanting to have a look out of curiosity to see what time the doctors saw their patients until.

OK. Just had a look at mine.
Although, on the card, it says D.N.I N.I.E by my number, on the website I select "Tarjeta de Extranerjo"
Works for me.

After going through all the rigmarole of getting our cards when we first moved here, when I tried to use my son's a couple of weeks before he was due to have a very expensive operation, I found they had been de registered.

I never did found out why it happened but it was a nightmare to get them sorted we finally managed it two days before the operation.

It may be best to visit the social security office that issiued th cars to find out what has happened.

I dont know how it will work for you,but because my hubby works in Gib,he had to collect the relavent forms from Gibraltar,we then took them to the social security office in Spain and from there, they sent off the forms and we then recieved our cards thru the post.I dont know how it will work for you.Sorry

fill in a form at your local health centre, hand it in, card comes in the post.

We have the E106 health cover for the family. We took the certificate and paperwork to the INSS office which stamped it, and we took it to the health centre in Mijas to register with the doctor. However, we didn't get a card or anything... is this normal? It has been a year now, and thankfully we haven't had to make an appointment to see a doctor so don't know whether we would encounter problems or not??

We have been here for 3 years Lynn and has the e106 for the 1st 2, we never recieved our cards (and even on the Spanish system still no cards) but we as a family of five have had allsorts of treatments from emergency hospital visits, biopsy to test for cancer, kids vaccinations all with no problems from not having a card so don't worry lol!

Oh this was at various different hospitals and doctors offices too (Frigiliana, Torre del Mar, Antequera, Mollina) so the same applies to all it seems.

OK, that puts my mind at rest a bit. I know they are about to renew our certificate for another year, and will renew even longer if we can produce pay slips from the UK. Eventually though, we will have to get private medical insurance and would be interested to know which would be the best/cheapest for a family of five??
