Las Alpujarras maps?
Las Alpujarras maps?
Anyone know somewhere online to get maps for walks in the Alpujarras or know of some suggested walks?
I know the tourist office on the way up to the Sierra Nevada has some but it's easier to go through Lanjaron to get to the Alpujarras...

If you are ever in Torre del Mar it would be worth calling at Pasa Tiempo - the "English bookshop" which faces the central carpark where the Thursday market is held.
He has lots of maps, and is/was a keen walker, and I believe wrote some of the booklets sold there about walking.

Evolution may soon take that back when the fumes kill everyone off
Nothing wrong with a bit of hiking - you have to drive to get to the hiking after all

Typical of wimming - rather trust a man-designed device than be in control of decisions about what gear etc. for themselves....annfoto wrote:Those of us who have evolved further no longer feel the need for a clutch pedal

Not many hikers, then!
Try "34 alpujarras walks" and "Alpujarras Tour and Trail map"
Available from Amazon or the publishers www.walking.demon.co.uk and dwgwalking.co.uk
I have the equivalent ones for Axarquia and the maps especially are superb.

I am an ex-Munro bagger. Down here when it's cool enough to walk it is usually wet, cloudy and miserable but most of the time it's just too hot (today 9th April 31.6C were I am).beachbabe wrote:Not many hikers, then!
. . .
I do walk now and then in the winter on some of the 100's kms of tracks behind my house. If I wanted to I could walk all the way to Ronda almost completely off road (about 45km).

Thanks, I'll check them out.
Any free resources by the way? Is the Sierra Nevada office the only place with free maps?

Many tourist information offices have a booklet of walks if you're in walking territory.

Re: Las Alpujarras maps?
My book "Holiday walks in the Alpujarra" includes sketch maps and is available from Amazon and the information office in Trevelez (Alpujarra). There is also a service offered of tailor made routes and maps (1:25000) offered but you should contact me directly as this forum gets unnecessarily uppity if one tries to sell a service.
See jalpujarra's hiking website www.walkalpujarra.com
