I certainly don't agree with everything he says, but I love the way he tells it! :lolno: No "yes" man like the rest of the toadies, he'll tell it like it is, and they don't like it up 'em. I reckon his slating of RumpyPumpy was brilliant. "Who are you?" "You look like a low-grade bank clerk". You know when he stands up to speak, they ain't going to like it!

Maybe they are worried that Britain won't put in 30 billion to the IMF?

Where would Britain get £30 billion, Mowser?
Isn't that the folly of it?

Well. if we didn't pi$$ £5,000,000,000 (£5Bn) away every year in Afghanistan, that would be a start!

Just imagine what a rich country the UK would be if they only sent about a dozen troops there like the rest of Nato countries  Even richer if they had a benefits system like Spain.

Perhaps the UK government could take it out of the overseas aid budget! Or, better still, just tell the EU to get stuffed.

Maybe. I have a sneaky feeling that we actively engage in wars to showcase our Weapons. Britain makes an awful lot of money from the export of death hardware.

Indeed we do make a lot of military hardware, and one of the reasons we make it, is because it sells, people want to buy it. Of course we could stop making it, but would people stop buying military hardware, I hardly think so. BAE is supposedly the largest arms company in the world, but as a country we are in third place, behind China and USA. We could do the honourable thing and stop making arms, and dump thousands on the dole, but the gap would simply be happily filled by the other countries.

Even better if they sent them all somewhere safe like the Germans, Spanish et al do. We must be mad doing all the fighting, doing all the dying, whilst the other members sit it out in holiday camps in the safe zones.

It's Britain wanting to play with the "big boys". We are tied too much to the USA.

It doesn't make it any the less sordid. Same as the amount of land mines laid worldwide hit a new record high last year. What a disgusting state of affairs when the world economy is in a mess.

Getting a bit off topic now.

Only six days to go before Rajoy gets started...... but will have to stop for festivities no doubt.

We can get emotive, dealing in death etc, but we´d simply be cutting off our noses to spite our faces if we did stop manufacturing. It´s a great thought, we stop manufacturing arms and everyone else stops and the world´s a much better place, but that´s never going to happen. Unfortunately, hundreds of countries want arms, and they don´t really care where they come from, just so long as they get them.

Katy. I suggest you check your figures. Canada had +/- 3,000 troops in Afghanistan. As usual, Canada gets no credit for its actions. (And they were in action.)
